Shakespeare's plays are full of timeless themes and tropes, characters who have wholehearted wants and joyful play with language that make them still popular today. But these are also elements of a great improv shows, whether it's set in the 16th century or not.

In this workshop we will look at some of the most fun and universally applicable tropes and tools in Shakespeare's work and then play with them in modern settings. We'll look at tropes like enemies to lovers, creating duplicitous villains and flawed heroes, status transitions and flips, big wants and metaphor games.

After the workshop, participants will feel equipped with new skills to take into their improv practice, whether it is modern or Elizabethan.

No prior knowledge of Shakespeare is required!

Self-assessed prerequisites: This workshop is open to anyone with approximately six months of improv training from any theatre

While we trust that it will be a fantastic experience for all involved, please note that we do not directly control their curriculums, classroom protocols, etc. Additionally, our standard policy on course deferrals for internal credit does not apply, as the instructor may only be in town for an extremely limited period of time – please consider all bookings to be final.
